5 Reasons Why We Do Not Recommend Transitioning

The BIG CHOP is not for everyone. There are those who choose to gradually ease into the fabulous life of natural hood. Everyone has a unique journey in life and the way you choose to become fully natural is no different. For V there were a couple months of going back and forth with the idea of cutting off all her processed hair. When she finally made that decision she had gorgeous curls that naturally formed with ease. This inspired me to give up my own quest to transition....but my journey was completely different. My hair was chemically processed for so long that it forgot how to naturally curl. I had to retrain my hair to curl by two strand twisting and finger coiling. Below are 10 reasons why V and I prefer to big chop:

1. You cannot see your true curl pattern until those processed ends are removed.
2. It is not easy to moisturize/style two different textures.
3. While transitioning you will wind up spending a lot of time protective styling. (braids, twists, and the list goes on...)
4. Depending on how long your current hair is you may miss out on the TWA phase. Honestly, I yearn for my TWA some days because wash day was less stressful and time consuming in those days.
5. Being on the fence about anything in life is never a good thing. That fear of whether you will love your natural pattern becomes greater and before you know it you have talked yourself out of going natural!

Do yourself a favor and take the plunge! Do not be afraid to love the hair that grows out of your follicles!

Etsy Recreate Reveal

I completed my Etsy recreate challenge in approximately 1 hour total. I had to make it my own so I got a little fancy with my final design. I am contemplating doing another one, but this time I will come as close as possible to the original pictures I previously shared. Here are my results below! leave your thoughts in the comments for me please!

Etsy Recreate

So I am feeling like I cannot sleep (could be the salted caramel mocha I had around 4pm)...I have so many crafting ideas floating through my head! I know it has been awhile since my last blog entry, but absence makes the heart grow fonder right?

So I frequently troll Etsy for stuff I want to purchase or to see if I could possibly recreate for cheap. I want this NOEL sign I keep seeing, but I cannot bring myself to spend 40 dollars on papermache letters and 10 dollars in shipping!!! (gasp)

I am currently obsessed with neutrals and the whole rustic look!

I plan to recreate the picture below....it does not look too difficult. You can join in on the fun. A Hobby Lobby was recently built near my home so I plan to stop there for all supplies needed. If you are not blessed with a Hobby Lobby then Joann's, Michaels, Walmart....etc will work.

You will need the following items:
Glue gun
Glue sticks
Grapevine wreath 10'
8' Papermache letters : N,E,L
Spray paint in your desired color or colors
Glitter (optional)
Faux berries or decorative embellishments (optional)

Happy Crafting!!!

It Is Just Hair!

Hi loves! It has been a while! We have been super busy! I know our instagram and facebook followers have noticed us posting bridal fashion. This is because Virtuous Assets has now ventured into event planning! It is an exciting time for us! We already have our first lovely bride! I just wanted to give a little insight, but I will save all the details for another post!

The diet is going well! Second week I lost 4 lbs! My husband has even made a statement about how my stomach is flatter. I seriously credit the reduction in that area to wrapping. If you have not tried it...then I do not know what you are waiting for! (read my post before last for instructions on what I use)

Okay so the more I handle my hair the more I have noticed one of these textures does not look like the other! I opted to skip the professional hair cut and big chop my own hair for personal reasons. Well here lately I have been feeling like my roots do not look like my ends.

So my roots look all nice, silky, and smooth while some of my ends were very rough!

So this happened. Hey why hang on to that frizzy stuff... and I could see some straight pieces. I probably will not be able to goddess braid for a while :( but it is all for the greater good!

Last thing before I sign off... coconut oil... I am most likely late, but I will most likely never buy lotion again... I got some coconut oil on my skin while applying to my hair and my skin feels like butter!

Weigh In Day

Today was my weigh in day! I said a small prayer before stepping on the scale...mainly asking God to help me continue this weight loss journey if the scale did not reflect a positive number. My last post yesterday I admitted to not being perfect the entire week so I was a little concerned, but I got on and......

I LOST 6 LBS!!! MY GOAL WAS 5 LBS!!

I was 4 oz away from losing another pound! I am really proud of myself! My work is not done, but I feel I am off to a great start. If you did not lose an ounce I still want you to be proud of yourself for putting yourself out there and taking that first step! Continue to strive for a healthier version of you!

Breakfast for today! Getting my day started!

Lifestyle Change Update

How is everyone today? Well I hope! I am feeling awesome! Tomorrow will make one week and it will be weigh in day...(I am anxious...but whether it is a loss or gain I will share)! I am human so of course I had some urges and slip ups, but overall I am extremely proud of myself. Each day was better than the last and I say bring on week two! Some days I did not feel like exercising, but I forced myself to and I immediately felt better afterward.

I wanted to share an alleged weight loss trick that I plan to try. So my big sis follows bodynomics on Instagram and she was telling me about this moisturizer that when applied will make you sweat. Everyone knows that sweat equals water weight loss! (if you did not know..you are welcome...I accept flowers but no candy... smile!). I for one have an issue with working up a sweat now that I am getting older! Back in the day I would sweat buckets, but now I have damn near run a marathon, and only the small of my back is wet! Anywho...you rub it on your tummy, thighs, arms,..etc and then wrap that area with saran wrap while you exercise. Bodynomics also has a waist trimmer that you put on over the saran wrap. I have my own waist trimmer that I will be using. I will let you all know the results! You can trust me to keep it real!

PS- this stuff better do something for 14.99!!! Y'all know I am unemployed so I do not want to have to justify spending money on a product that does not even work ha ha!

Three Strand Twist Results/ Short Diet Update

Last night was my very first time attempting a three strand twist on my natural hair. First off let me just say.... TWO STRAND TWIST WHO? I will not waste my time constructing two strand twist when I can easily get way more definition with the three strand! I am literally in love with the outcome! So happy I tried it out!

My usual products... and in this order! Bottled water, Cantu moisturizer, and Shea Moisture Curling Gel Souffle.

This is how tight they should be while twisting, but they will puff up once you release the braid. Also I start off by braiding the hair 3 times before twisting. Hopefully I can complete a video tutorial someday, but there are a million of them out there!

Quick length check!

Next morning. Unraveled...no separation

One side unraveled...no separation

Entire head unraveled without separating.

Separated!

Simply in love!

Small diet update! We are doing well and adhering to our goal! Day 1 was not so bad..small cravings occurred, but once you eat it goes away. I hope you too are sticking to your lifestyle change! Remember we only have one body and one life to live! Love you dolls! Stay positive!
